Our story
A lake that taught us to slow down
In 1934, a shepherd named Ilario Fenn built a one-room hut beside an unnamed glacial tarn so he could finally hear himself think. Travellers came for shelter and stayed for the silence. His granddaughter Marta turned the hut into twelve rooms and a rule: nothing here is hurried.
Today Halcyon Tarn holds just 24 suites. We have no televisions in the lobby, no loudspeakers on the terrace, and no schedule you cannot ignore. Our philosophy is simple: thin air, clear water, long lunches.
The house tradition: at dusk on your first night, you write one wish on a strip of birch bark and set it afloat. Ottavio, our resident marmot, supervises from the jetty, usually while eating.
